Course Aims:
Your instructor will guide you through the fundamental approach and best-practices in applying CFD for thermal simulations in engine compartment and powerplant environments. This will help increase your knowledge in the simulation approach for full 3D vehicle thermal simulations and demonstrate how to reduce CAD clean-up and meshing efforts, developing high quality models rapidly. During this course, you should expect to learn and understand:

• How to significantly reduce simulation turn-around time using CD-adapco’s unique ‘fast-track’ approach for the complete thermal simulation process from CAD to solution
• JAVA based macro set-up for automation for DFSS and ‘what-if’ type projects
  
• Best practices in generating powerplant/engine compartment models including:
  
  • Critical component temperature predictions (engine mounts, rubber hosing temperatures)
    
  • Getting the most out of your thermal models so that final climate wind-tunnel testing is more productive and cost effective
