Towcester, United Kingdom, Monday June 8th 2009 – Join Flowmaster at ASME Turbo Expo 2009, Orlando, FL, June 8th – 12th, the premier event for the Gas Turbine industry. Mike Croegaert, Gas Turbine Product Manager will be presenting ‘Using Flowmaster V7 as your COTS solution for the simulation of your secondary air systems’ on the Expositing Stage, during the Expo Reception at 5pm, June 9th.

Flowmaster System Simulation Software enables design engineers and analysts to understand the complex internal flow and thermal effects within fluid systems at the concept stage and throughout the development process. Flowmaster V7 provides users with a greater understanding of fluid systems much earlier, increasing quality and performance whilst shortening the development cycle.

Traditionally software for simulating Gas Turbine Secondary Air systems has been developed in-house and has been centered on the proprietary performance correlations that give Gas Turbine OEMs their unique competitive advantage. These codes are often technically strong however this is usually at the expense of usability, they are costly to maintain and can tie up valuable CFD specialists time with software rather than methodology development and internal knowledge transfer and education.

Flowmaster has addressed these issues, identified during consultation with the many OEMs, by creating a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution that combines an established and validated solver with the usability of a professionally developed and maintained graphical user interface. Flowmaster V7 Gas Turbine has the flexibility to allow organizations to integrate and secure proprietary data into a powerful easy to use tool that is commercially developed and supported by an international network of fluid systems engineers.

‘I have been working with many Gas Turbine OEMs over the last 5 years and understand how important it is for organizations to be able to leverage and protect their propriety correlations in a solution that also combines the productivity gains associated with easy to use commercially developed software tools. Our product release later this year marks the completion of the Secondary Air system simulation capability in Flowmaster V7 Gas Turbine which is the first commercial off the shelf tool of its kind for the Gas Turbine industry’ - Mike Croegaert, Gas Turbine Product Manager
