Hello all

for my master thesis I like to compare different fan blades. My idea is to compare them by measuring the difference in the topology.

I need a tool in ANSA to measure the angle between the normal of each shell of my blade and the y-axis (for example). For better understanding I give you an example using a sphere:
When I look at a sphere the angle of the shell on top to y-axis should be around 90 degrees, for shells at the "aquator" the angle should be 0 degrees. The shells between should have angles form 90 to 0 degrees.
So far I hope you can follow me.

The result should be a distribution of shells (better areas) an there angle to the y-axis. For example 10 percent of the blade area have an angle of 5 degrees to the y-axis, 24 percent have an angle of 10 degrees an so on...

I hope everybody understand my problem and in the best case somebody is able to help me!

Thanks a lot

Best regards
Jake

Dear Jake
If you start ANSA in CFD layout
and go to the User Defined Functions button
you will find a UDF that does this exactly.
It is called
IsolateNormalVector

Hope this helps
