mesh around axial fan

Hi guys,
I'm meshing an axial fan. My question is: how fine should be that mesh around blade surface if I wanna discretize part of the boundary layer, but without a specific boundary layer analysis.
I just have to know the velocity field forward and backword the fan into a pipe to get the delivery vs static pressure.

What I have is: diameter of the fan, number of blades, all the geometrical dimension, fan RPM.

Thanks a lot

Hi,

There is a workshop written by ansys about a simulation of axial fan. If i am not wrong, this is a workshop from version 14.0 of Ansys.

ansys customer portal website, just google it. It doesn't take too much time to create account there. they offer a bunch of material training and quick tutorials and documentation about their products.
