I have just added few video tutorials on meshing and solution of road vehicle. Meshing was done in ICEM and solution in fluet.

Part II http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-xZx...ature=youtu.be
Part III http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t2jh...ature=youtu.be
Part IV : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyfKS...ature=youtu.be
Part I is still being upload, shall provide you link in next post.

Important thing is the solution convergence behaviour, which is accelerated with some advance settings.

You can download the meshing files attached with this post.

Note: you can consider the vehicle as coarse mesh, Far3 as medium and Far5 as fine mesh.
Attached Files
File Type: zip Ahmedbody123.zip (64.0 KB, 87 views)
File Type: zip Ahmedbody45vehicle.zip (63.5 KB, 87 views)

Hi Far,

Thanks for your grids uploaded. Three questions: 1) why do you also generate mesh for the solid part? 2) I found that in some of your files the maximum expansion ratio is quite high (up to 20). And none of these grids files has maximum expansion ratio below 8. The high expansion ratio (volume change) mesh is justified by any experience? 3) These grids generally are even a little finer (at least the same) at the frontal area of the body and the upstream than at the rear area of the body and downstream. This is for what? Intuitively the rear area has BL separation and wake flow which have much larger gradient than the frontal area and upstream. And resolving of the BL separation pressure distribution and wake is quite important for the drag prediction.

Hi all,
Thank you for your help Far. In fact I'm new in CFD and I have to work on the Ahmed body. I've seen your files ".tin" and ".blk" . What do they concern exactly ? I mean, is there one for the geometry and one for the mesh ? And do you know if it's possible to import and to work with it on OpenFOAM ?
Thanks a lot,
Adrien
