Controlling first layer thickness in near wall region

Ok I am meshing around some wind turbine blades. I have set an inflation layer with first layer thickness of 0.05 metres. I am controlling the y+ value using this as required for the k-epsilon model. However it is meshing with very small first layer thickness of below 0.00001 for some reason. This is a problem with the number of cells as well as inability to use the k-epsilon model.

Can anyone provide a bit of help on this?
