Hello everybody,

I'm currently trying to mesh a distributor connected to several tubes in ANSYS meshing.
I made a geometry in two pieces: the distributor and the tubes
I also made the mesh in two steps: first several sizing of the distributor piece, then sizing of the tubes.

What I'm not able to do is to connect the mesh at the interface between the tubes and the distibutor. Does anybody has an idea?

I tried to gather the two pieces in design modeler, in order to get a connected mesh, but then my distributor strangely disappeared in the mesh editor.

Please help me!

Thank you!

go back to design modeler. group the tubes and the distributor so they can form one piece and come back to the mesher to mesh everything. Why did you separate everything from the beginning while it can be meshed in one shot. If you don't mind sharing your project, please do so. many people will then come and try to help you.

More specifically... Back in DM, you need to hold down CTRL and click on several parts (or all the parts) in the tree, then right click to form a new part...

When you go back to ANSYS Meshing, you will still be able to apply different meshing methods to the various bodies, but the mesh will be generated conformally between the parts.

You can control which fluid zone each body is in by creating named selections for the bodies. All in the same named selection makes it one fluid in the solver.

Thank you both for the help!

But it still doesn't work. As I said, I already tried to group the two parts to mesh the body in one piece, but when I do so the distributor part disappear in the meshing editor. Everything works in Design modeler, I have my 16 bodies but the connection to the meshing editor makes the distributor parts disappear... (only the 14 bodies of my tubes are represented in the meshing editor)

I don't know what's happening! I assume that the pieces I created for the distributor are not recognized in the meshing editor. Perhaps because they are surface bodies...? Is it possible?

I tried to change the properties of the bodies (fluid/solid), but my distributor is still not here!

Every suggestions are welcome!

I think I found out how to solve my problem.
For the distributor part, I made a revolution based on a non-closed sketch, and that is why I created surface bodies, which are apparently not recognized in the meshing editor...!

Anyway I'm making a new mesh now, I hope that the two parts will be connected. If I don't succeed in doing the mesh, I will share my project.

Thank you!

Yup, I didn't realize you were trying to merge a surface body with a solid body... You can't do that, at least not yet. Instead, you can use contact or one of the other methods to join bodies...

But it seems like you already sorted yourself out.

Good work.

Thanks man, it helped me solve a problem I had.
Cheers.
