To ask a question about ICEM geometry parameterization
Hi,
I'm a college student. I'm working on my CFD semester project by Ansys. I need to create a specific geometry by ICEM and parameterize it. So that afterwards when I need to change that geometry to improve the fluid dynamics behavior, I can change it easily. I learnt the ICEM tutorial but didn't find the part about geometry parameterization. I tried to search for it online and also didn't find anything about that. Could you please tell me how to parameterize geometry by ICEM or recommend me a tutorial? Best regards and many thanks, lnk |
you can use tcl scripting to do this task

If your geometry is not much complex, then you can use Ansys workbench (DM-->Ansys meshing-->solver). It is fully parametric and no need to do tcl coding or scripting for geometry parametrization and much easier to learn also.
But negative point is mesh editing for quality improvement is not possible in ansys meshing. So decide depends up on your geometry complexity. |

Tutorials are available in customer portal and some of them in installation directory also. You can refer any of them.

There is one more additional benefit if you use Fluent solver because of cutcell meshing in Ansys meshing. You need not to worry much about quality as nearer to geometry surfaces, it will put polyhedral elements and inner side will be filled with hexa elements (cartesian mesh).
I found cutcell meshing is reducing the meshing time with more hexahedral elements in the mesh. Unfortunately, CFX can not read cutcell mesh. So it is not useful to you now. |
