[ICEM] Importing cambered airfoil geometry to ICEM CFD
HI,
I am trying to study the transient aerodynamics of a wind turbine airfoil. For meshing, I am following the video tutorial posted on Youtube. According to the tutorial, the first line of the datafile should contain the number of points on either side of the airfoil, and the number of curves. It works well for a symmetric airfoil since it has equal number of points on either side. Obviously, it's not the case for a cambered airfoil. I tried an alternative: create separate datafiles for upper and lower portions, import the upper(or lower) file first, and merge the other one in the next step. This didn't work as the program crashed with the message "segmentation violation-exiting after doing emergency save". However, in the first line of the datafile, if we mention a number which is greater than than the total number of points in the geometry, then ICEM CFD plots just points (no curves or surfaces). We can manually connect these points to get two nice curves. Though it looks like a workable method, it's not very attractive. Is there a more elegant method to import cambared airfoil geometry to ICEM CFD? Thanks Madhu |

Exactly the solution I was going to suggest ;^)
