Hi all,
i want to mesh a cylinder, that has two parts. interior part is fluid, and outer part is solid. i used SLICES to create parts, then i can make hexahedral mesh. now i want to import mesh to fluent, but when i import the mesh, there are a lot of walls and surfaces that it's really confusing. i want two have just two part, but after slicing it convert to 8 part. besids, i want to slice the geometry to mesh like the picture. any suggestion?? |

With this kind of segmentation, you will get cells with very low quality at the center of the pipe.
Use some kind of O-grid segmentation instead. After splitting the geometry, you have to form an assembly from the single parts you created. This way, no walls will be created inside the mesh. Make one assembly for the fluid, and a second one for the solid. |

Sorry the exact word for the tool doesnt come to my mind right now.
I use the german version of ansys DM. But it works like this: in Design Modeler, mark the parts you want to assemble and do a right-click. In the context menu, you will find something like "form assembly" or whatever, it is pretty clear which one it is. |

Your problem has already been discussed in this post
As Alexander said, you need to form a new part (here one for your fluid domain and one for your solid) I also agree with Alexander that your mesh slicing procedure will generate low quality elements at the center of the pipe, you should slice it to create an O-grid like this : |
