Thin Symmetric Airfoil

Hello,

I would like to mesh a thin symmetric airfoil in 2D with Hexa-dominant cells and a prism layer around my airfoil. Is that possible? I don't manage to obtain a prism layer , what can I do? I never used ICEM before for a project but only made some tutorials.
I usually use Starccm+ but for this projet, the polyhedral mesh with a prism layer mesher doesn't give me satisfaction that's why I choose ICEM v13 which seem more appropriate for a 2D study.

Thank you very much for your help!

Regards,

Antoine

Did you want to use structured hexa mesh, unstructured cartesian cutcell or unstructured hex-dominant mesh? Type these terms into google image search if you are unsure.

I think I would like to have an unstructured hex-dominant mesh, not like the trimmer function in Starccm+

Thanks for the quick answer!

Didn't realise you are doing a 2D analysis.

Import the face into ICEM and select "All Quads" in the Patch Dependant mesher. When you then create the mesh, you will then get an unstructured 2D quad mesh.
