[ICEM] how to create internal wall?
Does sb know houw to creat a internal wall in ICEM CFD? Do i need to creat different blocks to creat internal walls?

Thank you for all your reply! I WANT to extend my outlet. So the old outlet is considerd as the internal wall and the extended outlet is as the new outlet. But I am not sure how can I use the split mesh?

Because I am thinking to generate mesh for the outer layer from the inner geometry.I think I haven' t understaned the idea you told me. Because I tried to generate internal walls by defining four different bodies and the internal walls are created. Then I meshed for the whole geometry and imported the mesh into fluent. But it is said mesh check failed and the error is as follows:

ok it's good, forgot to add that you need to define new body because of those outlet blocking the way to the mesh. they can have the same new bty... your error is may be due to the boundary seeting while exporting, did you declare your outlets as interior ?

here is your project, some bad quality elements were there, because you forgot to apply "build topology" and enable "curvature refinement"
Also you were setting outlet as interior, but your outlet had surfaces that should be used as well. pay attention when you create your part. make sure you selected the right surfaces and only those ones. here is the link, tested on fluent and working : https://dl.dropbox.com/u/35161486/project.zip |

I think you should extended your surface with some built-in command or manually (create 5 or more additional surfaces) and start the meshing process from Ab initio. No need to create the internal wall, this function is used when you have wall inside the domain and there is fluid on both sides of this wall. Which is not the case with you.

Hi, Far. Thank you for your reply. I did it according to what you said. Firstly, I offseted the original outlet and then extended them to generate the new outlets. The interfaces (original outlets) have been generated automatically. I tried to mesh for the whole geometry but it just can mesh the inner of thegeometry (the air_fluid body arounded by the original inlet and outlets). So I defined four bodies(the inner body and the outer three body arounded by the original and extended outlets). The mesh is finished but when I imported the mesh into Fluent, the mesh quality failed. I am so confused.

delete the two extra material points and use on material point for the new domain.

you can give them the same name, it's not a big deal...

Thanks a lot for your replies. I have sovled the problem of unassigned interface by through defining the gird interface in Fluent. But when I ran the calculation, there was an error that divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure correction. I am working on this problem.

Hi, Far. I saw you have finished the prim mesh in this geometry. Don't you mind sharing the method to generate prim mesh? And I have another question. I defined the 3 orginal outlets as 3 interfaces in fluent and creat the mesh interface. The interface zone 1 is interface 1,2 and the interface zone 2 is interface 3. Finally, the problem of the assigned intefaces have been solved. But when I ran the calculation, the error is: divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure correction. I tried to reduce the UDF, but it didn't work. Do you know the reason? And you told me to record the result from the extended outlets to original outlets, Could you give me some detailed information about this method, please? I will appreciate your help! It is really simple.
1. I just set the global mesh parameters. 2. Prism mesh parameters 3. In part mesh panel, tick the prism mesh for part, for which you want to grow the prism 4. In compute mesh panel >>>> volume mesh >>>>>>> select the prism mesh option as well and then compute mesh |
