Two different domain in Wind turbine

Dear Experts

I want to know:

What type of contact should i use in mesh setup (interior or Interface b.c) in order to specify a common boundary between two different domain of same fluid in wind turbine simulation?
(one domain is fine mesh around blade and the second domain is a stationary enclosure domain)

For more description about , I had read this fluent page http://jullio.pe.kr/fluent6.1/help/html/ug/node373.htm and not understand is this is selective?!

Note : I'm succeeded in building both both contact type but Fluent produce errors in converging. so I want to push away the wrong contact type.

See this tutorial:

http://hpce.iitm.ac.in/website/Manua...f/tg/tut09.pdf

In general you can still use the two zones with the interior boundary conditions if you have the both meshes in same file and having conformal mesh in both zones. Use interface if the meshes have non conformal meshing at interface.

I'd interested to see the effect of both methods on the results for the same case (you can take the above example as test case and I can search the case file for you)

Thanks Far for replay

I had seen it before But this tutorial is 2D ... is this can apllied to 3D model where the contant zone is face not line?

Note for explanation you told be before in a little not it should be Interface http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...condition.html remember :)

Thanks in advance

Yeah I remember that thread and we disccused two things:

1. Periodic condition (conformal mesh on periodic boundaries) vs. interface (non conformal)

2. Interior and interface. Refer to Fig below (taken from your previous post)

We are clear that we are talking about the boundary condition between inner domain (rotating) and outer domain (stationary). In other words we are talking about the point 2:Interior and interface.

In my personnel point of view you should go for the interface method as I never seen any body to apply the interior boundary except that tutorial. Moreover it is not possible to create the conformal mesh in 3d.

Thanks Far

But I succeeded in make contact boundaries as interior , Are you mean it will lead to wrong results

I cannot say anything. Run the simulation and lets hope every thing will be fine. Interface idea is my personnel opinion and has really nothing to do with the options available in Fluent or ansys meshing.

Thanks Far I'm really appreciated your advices :)

I ran the mesh with Interior before But after convergence of Fluent the results are not logic.... So I ran the mesh with Interface But Fluent can't converge.

It seems I need some one work on wind turbine before.

please note that with interior you should have only one boundary common to both domains and for interface there should be separate boundary the rotating and stationary zones.
