Dear All,
I am trying to mesh a geometry by hexa grids in ICEM CFD. The problem happens in the connection of two cylinders. There is an extended mesh in the connections. (Please refer the attache files for the image views of connection, blocking and pre mesh) Can any body help me to fix this problem? |

This has already be solved before. If you make a quick research, you should be able to find the link to this file "ICEMCFD_Tips&Tricks2010.pdf" made by Simon. Everything is explained in this document

create blocking for the bigger pipe including ogrid. Then create the blocking by extrude along curve. There are many other methods to blocks including first creating the one big block for both pipes. Just try.

Dear Boles,
I could find some presentations by Simon. But those cannot be downloaded. Can you please give me the exact link. I found this link, ftp://ftp.ansys.com/outgoing/simon/ICEM_Tips2008.pdf but cannot load the page. Thank a lot for your help. Sakura. |

Dear All, Thanks a lot for supports.
There is another prob with o grid generation. 01. First I blocked vertical cylinder, rotated it 30 degrees around Y axis and generated an o grid in it. 02. then, extruded the surface in to horizontal cylinder and split that block. 03. generated an o grid there. The problem occurred here. Prob: When I created the o grid inside the extruded section, the o grid generate, but out side from the block. I haven't select "Around blocks" Can anybody answer me why this is happening? |

Dear Far,
Thank you so much for this immediate reply. I have attached all figures as steps I followed from jPEGs named ogrid0 to ogrid4. Thanks again. |

Dear Far,
Yes, it has two tangential pipes joint. I have added more pics herewith. Still I cannot fix the solution. |

Associate first before doing the O-Grid and the extrude.

Finally I could fix it. It happens in split blocking and then extrusion. If the whole face extruded and then split it, ogrid generates inside the block. But I don't know what is the reason.
But thank you so much for your helps. |

Dear All,
I got a problem again. It is not relates to ogrid. When I do the meshing, unwanted mesh extension generates from the cylinder top to bottom cone top curve. Pls refer the pics attached. Can anybody help me? |

Dear Aysisi,
There is no such an option in extrude faces. I used "Extrude alone a curve". |
