simplify STL geometry and export it to COMSOL

Hi everyone,

I would like, one more time, to ask you for help.

I´m want to do some simulations of a porous media in COMSOL. My starting point is STL file. It is a quite complex geometry that should be simplified, smoothing edges, ..
(I can not import directly the geometry meshed by ICEM due to the lack of a license...)

Then after some test seems that the best option is to export the geometry as an IGES file (as a Parasolid file does not work out), but for such purpose I should have bspline lines and surfaces.

Does anybody know which is the better way ?
I though to build the topology. Then the surface which define the geometry is split. Then create a bspline lines from these surfaces. and points from these lines. And then do the smoothing process manually.

I also tried with the " create/modify surface > geometry simplification" tool but it doesn´t seems to help.

Any suggestion? doubts about my problem?

Thanks,
Carles

Hi Far,

Thanks for your interest.

Now I´m learning how to use pro-engineer properly, then I will do the whole geometry again....
