Hey everyone,

currently I'm doing some airfoil analysis in ANSYS. Therefor I want to include a .txt with the airfoil coordinates generated by JavaFoil.
Now, everytime I'm trying to load the .txt file with the coordinates of the airfoil, DesignModeler just gives me an error.

"Error: Number of points in the coordinate file are out of range"

So clearly there is something wrong with the way, the airfoil coordinates are typed in the file. But I can't figure out, what the exact problem is.
Hopefully you guys have some advice for me.

Here are the coordinates as typed in the .txt file:

1 1 1.0 0.00000000 0
1 2 0.99750924 0.00082186 0

it is expecting X Y Z... you are giving it a few extra columns.

I would suggest trying to delete the extra columns (the "data out of range") and try again.

You could also look at the help and see what format the import points option is expecting...

I've already edited the columns as described in the help.
The first two columns are group number, sequence (node) numer, then xyz. For closed curves, DesginModeler needs the last line to have a point numer of 0 and no xyz coordinates.

Sorry, I usually use ICEM CFD. I have done it in DM at least once though and it worked for me.

I don't have time to try out your model right now.

Perhaps the new year would be a good time to contact ANSYS Tech support.
