Hi,
I used ANSYS ICEM 14 to do my meshing of a 3d building. I used the tera/Mixed Mesh: Robust(Octree) method to do my meshing. It went smoothly in ICEM. When I imported the mesh into fluent and did a check on the mesh, the mesh-check failed. It gave me a warning.
WARNING: 1 cell(s) have only wall faces.

How do I fix this? I cant seem to run anything smoothly on Fluent when my mesh-checks fail. (AMG Divergence error)

I need help. serious help

The problem is : I do not know what to check for in ICEM. I do not understand the error in Fluent. What does "2 cell(s) have only wall faces" mean?

Here is how i created my mesh in ICEM.
I imported a few .IGS files into ICEM. I imported 5 of them, merged them and then imported another 6 more .IGES files separately. Created a mesh using the Octree algorithm. It looks ok in ICEM. But when i did a mesh check in fluent, the mesh check failed. What does the error mean?

Hello David,

Probably it's best to go for check mesh and check the quality of mesh in ICEM prior to export the .msh file to fluent. You can find them in edit mesh tab. I am also new to ICEM and Fluent still in learning phase.

Further this user and tutorial guide as follows:

Hope this will work.

Thanks for the Manual Smaras.
Update: I did a check in ICEM and found 16 penetrating elements on my mesh. and surprise surprise..when i did a mesh check in Fluent, i have the error: "16 cell(s) have only wall faces".

Now..another conundrum... how do i fix the penetrating elements? deleting them is definitely not an option because doing so will bring on another error in the form of missing or uncovered faces. Any help here on fixing penetrating elements?

Hello David,

As i told you earlier i am also novice at ICEM. I am learning by hit and trial. And mostly i do google research Still long way to go.
I recently transfered myself from STAR-CCM+ to FLUENT so probably you can load your geometry, i can see but can't promise of any solution. In the mean while i am also looking into this problem if i find anything i'll share it with you and if you do then please also share would be thankful.
I think FAR or Simon can help you more in this regard.

Regards,
Smaras
