how to increase the number of elements in a specific part of the pipe.

Guys, I'm working on a pipe with bows and want to increase the number of elements at the ends of the pipe, tried to edge by Params but elements of the center pipe were very large. Anyone know how exactly do I do this??

thank you!

diamondx January 29, 2013 10:42

you need to increase the number of elements then

TallesC January 29, 2013 15:16

I can not because the geometry is large and increasing number of elements can make it difficult to run on time, any other ideas?

1. Refine mesh in a block, refinement has to be level 3 or more. See fig. 1.
2. Convert to Unstruct Mesh
3. Resolve refinements. See fig.2.

It works well in 2D and 3D.

Can we merge meshes in 2d? (I assume you are using merge operation after refinement.)

Edit: Yes it can be done but only for 3:1 ratio refinement.

as i never used this function, i was wondering if we don't use the resolve refinement in edit mesh, is the mesh still good for analysis in fluent. i mean blocking -» refinement -» export

Thank you Guys, but I`m split de block and use edge param for increase number de elements in a specific part of the pipe...its working...

I have successfuly used this function with 3:1 refinement.

Now to your question: No it will not work in 2d in R 14(Ref : Post # 63 http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...linders-4.html

However in 3d this should work as Fluent supports hanging nodes.
