Hi,
Can anyone tell me why ANSYS Meshing does not think a hollow hemisphere (see image) is a sweepable body. I would have thought it could be swept from internal to external spherical surfaces but it will not. Thanks. Last edited by siw; February 21, 2013 at 15:33. |

a revolve sweep or extrude by rotation would work, i think. Not sure what would happen at the 0-360 interface, if it would merge those nodes/faces.

mjgraf, are you referring to DesignModeler commands? Because as you can see I have made the geometry in DM (by two spheres using a smaller one to slice out the material from the larger one and then a slice by place to cut it in half). The mesh in the image is with MultiZone.
I'm simply asking about why this is not a sweepable body in Meshing. |

i guess he does not see it as a sweepable body because of the way you created your geometry. if you had used a rotate or an extrude option, things will have been different. I'm just guessing here...

From the picture you attached, it looks swept to me?
I tried as well and managed to get a swept mesh with "Src/Trg Selection" set to Manual or Automatic Thin |
