Multi element airfoil

Can anyone help me ..

I want to build a geometry of a airfoil with flap, mesh it Gambit and analyze it with Fluent. can i get direct co-ordinates of such case so that i can change the angle of flap only with respect to airfoil keeping angle of attack constant? if it is possible pls tell me the details..

Thank u ...

do you mean with moving mesh?

RAMSTECH March 7, 2013 05:14

For fixed mesh only

for fixed mesh only.. i would like to compare results of an airfoil with different flaps.(for example NACA4412 airfoil with NACA 4412 flap , and NACA 4412 airfoil with NACA 23015 flap) please tell me how should i proceed forward.

ThanQ for the replies

-Create your outer domain
-Create your multi element airfoil.
-save this dbs
>> save this session with another name
Now you can go and substract airfoils domain from outer domain
Finally mesh

For other flap incidence, load the other dbs, rotate your flap, substract, etc...

it is just a copy paste...........

how to create it

ThankQ for ur reply Mr.Max

but sir, my problem is that i am not getting how to create multi-element airfoil. pls help me. thankQ

you need first to get airfoil geometries

RAMSTECH March 12, 2013 03:02

How can i get

but sir, how can i get that airfoil geometries?
if any tutorial is there ( for air foil with flap), can u please send me.
my mail id is nallavelliramesh@gmail.com
thankQ for the reply

no idea, since you are looking for geometry data-
But google may help you

RAMSTECH April 25, 2013 15:24

finally i did meshing for the airfoil with a flap , now i imported it into fluent
, ( i am attaching the mesh image here under).
now i gave pressure far field for all the boundaries . i gave mach number 0.2
i am using RNG k-epsilon turbulent model to solve it. i gave option to plot and write Cd and Cl ( co.efficient of lift and drag).

when i solve with the above options i am getting error like
read-data: invalid plot file format

Checking existing force monitor file cd-history...
Error: read-data: invalid plot file format
Error Object: *eof*

can u pls help.

why iam getting those error

Thank u

the problem may be on data files you want to write.
Check path, permissions, etc....
