Mesh uniformity/smooting
Hello!
As I am sure you will notice I am very new at this whole CFD/Mesh/ICEM universe. However, I have already been asked to produce a mesh for two very complex parts, and I am struggling quite a bit with it. My main issue relates to the uniformity of the mesh, as it can be seen in the picture below: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4fb17797.png The blocking is fairly complex, and therefore adjusting the number of nodes in each edge in order to achieve a satisfactory uniformity would take a while. My main question is, therefore, is there an easier way in order to achieve this? What is the relationship between element size and number of nodes? Should they be dependent on each other? As you can see, I've even tried using the smooth comand on the second part: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/...psc02aefd1.png But surprinsingly, after the long process was over, the mesh quality actually decreased! Should I avoid this process? http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/...pse0460c7f.png Also, I have been trying to maintain good angles, which is actually hard due to the angled edges of the model. Would there be a better blocking strategy to handle such geometries? Thank you very much in advance! |
I dont see any problem in meshing. It is of good quality.

I do have some problems regarding the periodicity. I know how to set periodicity under the global mesh setup, but I'm not sure about how to define the block vertices which are periodic.
Should I just select the vertices on one pariodic side, and not both? |
