Hello every body,
I'm using TurboGrid to create mesh around an axial fan.The geometry is imported using curve files.
I need to translate the fan across the x-axis. But when I use translation method of TurboGrid, it expands the fan along x-axis rather than translating it!
Attached picture clear this problem.

How could I translate the fan correctly?

Any suggestion is welcomed.
Regards,
Bahar

this can be done in cfx pre... Not possible in turbogrid, unless you change coordinates in curve files, as it is reading .curve files.

Dear Far,
Thank you for your quick answer!
You mean I should mesh the geometry and them import it to CFX-Pre and then transferring it?

Regards,
Bahar

Hi every one,
Please can anyone help me with my question.

I have a water turbine and I want to create simulation for power and wake study.

The water turbine blades have constant cross sections and are untwisted. the hydrofoils of the blades are in xy plane. For turbogrid if I want to import the data file, the lowest airfoil should be curved (same as hub radius) to be in contact with the hub this what I noticed when I opened the files data form the TurboGrid tutorial in ICEM. Please if any one can tell me what is the best way to create the hydrofoil and hub .curve files.

I tried to use solidworks ( the model is already created in solidworks) but this seams difficult. My attempt was to create a projection of the hydrofoil on the hub an then extract the data from this projected poly. I know from the tutorial all the airfoils should have the same number of data that start and rotate in a particular way which seams difficult with using the projection method.

I have also tried the BladeGen but the only thing I was able to do is to import the hydrofoils files and no thing more.

I should mention that I am new to TurboGrid and BladeGen but I have done must of the TurboGrid tutorial yet not able to find BladGen tutorials.

Please any suggestions will be highly appreciated

Thank you
Aziz
