Hi everyone,

I am novice to ansys 14.0 meshing. I want to execute a structured mesh for a circular plane. the type of meshing I want to generate is attached. I am able to genrate same mesh in gambit pre processor. I am not able to use virtual topology.

Please guide me in detail or provide me tutorial for the same.

it is very easy to achieve in ICEM CFD... are you interested in using icem cFD ?

Hi Ali,

Thanks a lot for the reply. Yes, I want to do it in ICEM CFD Tetra Mesher provided by Ansys 14.0 package.

Help and guide me. I will be grateful. I am very much interested in this field and my research can reach to next level if I learn this.

Thanks a lot Ali,

I also have another doubt related to connectivity of the mesh of different zones in a body. I am working on a two phase model of air and water using VOF in fluent. In water I need a simple hexa mesh with same element size but in air at the interaction the mesh elements chould be small and it increases as I go farther.

I know the mesh is to be connected for the analysis. So in Geometry modelling in Ansys 14.0 do I need to model water and air in the same part or they can be different parts also.

Saurabh Mangal

put them in different part. after outputting to fluent you will have something like int_air and "int_water". it will be easy for you to distinguish between the two and initialize

but then the mesh is not connected.

diamondx April 12, 2013 10:33

you started with one block right ? then you performed splits... after the splits, you get multiple blocks. you need to name one block AIR and other block WATER. they will still be connected

yes I did it that way only. But the mesh I create some elements are not connected.
