Conformal Mesh on Periodic Faces

Hi, I am quite new to CFD and I am having some problems with a mesh I have created in Ansys Workbench 14.
I am modeling flow across a turbine blade in the domain attached below using fluent My aim is to have identical (conformal) meshing on the left and right walls of the domain in order to make them periodic. They do not exist in the real world but I had to curtail my domain somewhere. I have tried using cut cell messing and swept meshing (sweep-able faces) but the blade in the middle of the domain is causing a problem and I cannot seem to fix it. I have attached screen shots of the cutcell mesh I generated which seems to be the closest to Conformal on the left and right walls I would be grateful if someone could take a look at this as I feel it should be easily fixable. |

Insert a "Match Control" on your mesh

Thanks for the pointer jrunsten! I have been reading up on match control and it looks like it could solve my problem. However whenever I try to use it in the menu, the match control is grayed out and wont let me use it. Is there a knack to getting it to work ?

Perhaps it doesn't work on assembly (cutcell) meshing?

I have tried it using a tetrahedral mesh also jrunsen. Do I have to generate the mesh and then apply the match? I was reading the ansys help function on match control and it wasn't quite clear. I will email my project supervisor and ask him to go through it with me! I will see how I get on with him and If we cant fix it I will read deeper into the match control.
Thanks again for you help! I'll keep you posted on how it turns out! |
