stirred tank meshing

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all
I cant mesh my geometry(stirred tank by MRF or SM), because I dont know how should start mesh process.
I dont know how prepare geometry to meshing.
please help me.

Thanks in advance

Is that your entire geometry? If so, you do not need MRF's

yes, it is.
Why not need to mrf?

stuart23 April 15, 2013 10:26

If the tank is cylindrical and shares the same axis as the rotor, why not just have a SRF with counter rotating walls? There is no need for MRFs in this case.

ok, but how do I?
I have not previously experienced srf. Also, I think my main problem is meshing.
please help me

Thank you so much

I think that I cant use SRf because:
"Many problems involve multiple moving parts or contain stationary surfaces which are not surfaces of revolution (and therefore cannot be used with the Single Reference Frame modeling approach)"

I used mrf and results were satisfactory(by another geometry for impeller).
please help me about meshing this geometry

Looking at your geometry, every other surface except the mixer is a surface of revolution. Read Fluent User Guide 9.2.2.1.1, it is exactly the same as your case.

Ok, But I think my main problem is meshing. can you help me?
My mesh quality very bad because I use auto mesh.

Thanks in advance

Your case is much simpler than this one. So you can easily mesh it with full Hexa

Dear Far
But I cant mesh that, because I dont know how should start mesh process.
can you help me?

Do you have complete geometry of your model? did you make it any CAD software or ANSYS? Can you share it?

yes I have complet geometry. I built that using GAMBIT.
If possible, please send to me your email.

email is there with my name on left side ;)

Ok. got files and imported to ICEM. I hope I will come up with high quality mesh in ICEM

Two blades are still remaining. Other two are blocked with o-grid.
