Hi,
Does anyone know what 'segmentation violation' means in ICEM-CFD? I get that message when I try to create the input files for the solver I'm using. Thanks, Antonis |

Segmentation violation for any program means a memory fault. Accessing beyond the limits of an array, accessing an array that's not allocated, etc.

Depending on whether you are using ICEM off a server or based on a single machine could be something to due with insufficient memory or file access.
Get it sometimes when I am using it on big meshes and doing lots of dynamic zooming in and outs while its processing a change. |

Hi there
I am getting 'segmentation violation' when I try to convert my Pre-Mesh to Multiblock Mesh. It should not be a memory fault, because I tried it with a small mesh and even on a machine with 32GB RAM. I tried it on a Windows and a Linux machine. I am using ICEM 12.1. Is it possible that the geometry/blocking is the reason for the problem? Or do you guys have some other hints for me? I appreciate any effort. Thx, Robert |

Hi
Maybe the replay-function is the problem. I sometimes get weird errors when I am loading a replay-file. Also I cant replay my commands from the beginning to the end. I dont know why this is happening. I tried building my mesh on ICEM 11.0 without using the replay-function. This time I can create the Multiblock Mesh but I get an error writing the data out (Output/Write Input). Code:
Running ICEM CFD/CAE Multi-block Info Vers. 5.0.0 Error in unsh_gsfdims, idomnum=2 Error exit in unsh_gsfdims Error creating multi-block neutral files... child process exited abnormally Done Done with translation. |

Hi,
Segmentatiion violation error means: it may be geometry size problem or you are not having licence to access. -raju |

Hi Raju, thx for your reply.
What does "geometry size problem" mean? Is it that my workstation is too weak (RAM, HDD, CPU) to handle the mesh? I dont think thats the problem. Thx for the hint with the licencing, we are having a change because of ANSYS 13 and therefore I have problems with the ICEM OUT licence. Maybe there is another problem concerning the creation of the mesh files. |
