Hello.

I have a 3d model in gambit. I want to use part of that model for using in 2d of fluent. I am erasing other edges and faces but in exporting the mesh gambit give me this error: please see image
I checked "export 2d x-y mesh" but it does not work.
I think since i have z coordinates, it produce the error
How can i change 3d to 2d?
Thanks

-mAx- will become famous soon enough
are all your vertices in (Z=0) plane?

No. I said "I think since i have z coordinates, it produce the error". How can i fix that z coordinates to 0 ?

Move your surface for having all your vertices with Z=0 (enable Connected Geometry option)

For 2d analysis you must consider:

1. does 2d analysis represents your 3d case? For example 2d case may give you good result for the 3d circular duct but it is not the case for transition duct changing its shape from circular to rectangular shape.

2. Your geometry must be on X-Y plane.

3.For axisymmetric case , model axis must be X-axis.

I have the same problem.
All my drawings are on x-z plane, so it's surely a 2D drawing. Is there any way I can change all the drawings directly to x-y plane? Thanks!
