check out the methods in video (online) here http://goo.gl/P2fVU You need M1 type blocking. So just check the blocking in ICEM and try to implement in GAMBIT.

dear FAR
thanks very much for your helping, if we have multiple tube in the T junction (For example shell and tube heat exchanger), how can I mesh the model with ICEM CFD? |

Where is the in and out of shell? and also for tubes?
Whether you use gambit or ICEM, the blocking strategy would be same. However procedure is different. In gambit you need to decompose volume to get the required hexa mesh. While in ICEM CFD you will use blocking and O-grid to reach the same mesh. Having said that, now I will explain procedure in ICEM (blocking strategy is applicable to gambit as well) 1. create material points Fluid1 and Fluid2 for shell and tubes respectively. For all tubes place separate material point with name Fluid2. 2. If there is some thickness of tubes, place solid in the region for each tube. Will help you in heat transfer calculations in fluent/CFX. 3. Create main block and split at each tube and inlet and outlet pipes. 4. Create O-grid while selecting outermost faces. 5. Convert into unstructured mesh. 6. Select solver and set boundary conditions. Output mesh. |

hi,
in fact, fluid is flow on the outside of the internal pipes(in the shell). i am trying to mesh the model with ICEM CFD. |

No, the ICEM CFD seems to be better than gambit.
I will try with ICEM. |

Dear FAR
I did not succeed to mesh the model with blocking way, if i send you the model, could you mesh it and guide me? thank you for your attention. http://public.fileup.ir/d/2127010/Part8.igs |
