hi guys,

anyone know how / if it is possible to use multiple processors when meshing with ICEM in batch mode?

i.e. is there a command line option i can specify? opening ICEM with the GUI and setting no. of processors in the general options doesnt seem to carry over into when you are meshing in -batch mode.

many thanks and regards
jonathan

ps Apologies if i missed it in the documentation, i didnt see it when i looked through previsously. cheers jon

Number of processor is general variable in Octree meshing (n_processor #)

ic_run_tetra temp_tetra.tin tetra_mesh.uns run_cutter 1 delete_auto 1 run_smoother 0 fix_holes 1 n_processors 4 in_process 1 log ./tetra_cmd.log

For HEXA is crucial different parameter. Go to c:\Users\You\ and open file ".aienv_options". In part "array set options" is again parameter "n_processors".

".aienv_options" is customisation file ICEM CFD for each user.

hi ludvik,

many thanks for your email.

yes, i have set this parameter from the GUI of ICEM as I said above, but when i run in -batch mode, my machine still seems to run with only x1 thread ... so i was wondering if there was something i was doing wrong.

perhaps, it is to do with the fact that i am calling ICEM from Matlab, and it does not read the "user options" in this file.

perhaps there is a default / general options file, but i will keep looking for a solution at this stage.

again, many thanks for your help - much appreciated
regards
jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Try this in your script:
ic_hex_create_mesh A B C D E F proj 2 dim_to_mesh 3 nproc 3
