Hello Friends,

I am having a problem meshing a straight cylindrical pipe geometry covered by heating mats and wool (shown in Fig. 1). When I do the blocking, I always have problem with the heating mats (which are not completely circular and are separated). I would like to know your suggestions as to how to approach the problem. Thank you.

P.S: I am attaching the geometry along with this post.

How many material points you create for this simulation?

you should have diffferent material points for each part, then mesh them separately and merge the different meshs using merge option in Edit Mesh.

I will have a look at the files though and let you know.

That's very easy....just use sub-topology and o-grids.

Keep in mind: if there's any heat transfer, you need to have a ggi (even if the nodes match)

I agree with energy382. Just put the blocking in the appropriate material parts and check for the correct association of faces to surfaces.

By the way, what does the acronym GGI stands for?
