Hi, I am a 3rd year university student; I am looking at the effects of induced drag over a wing with varying wingtips. I have the models in catia V5; these will be modelled via 3d printer and tested in a small subsonic wind tunnel. These results will be compared to my CFD findings.

I have never used Fluent 14 before and I have been told that ICEM will be fine for what I need to do.

I am looking for a step by step guide; even simpler than the tutorials in the help section.

I have imported the IGS file into ICEM and that is as far as I have got. I am after a full help from here to completion in Fluent 14.

My requirements; do 2D analysis of a NACA 4412 profile at 8 degree AoA and Do 3D analysis of the wings.

Attached is one of the models I am trying to use.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Mike

hi thanks for your reply, I am not able to attached the .tin files, they are about 1mb for the 5 files

could you send me a message with your email address and I can email them to you

what I am after is how to do the rest, this will be my final project comparing these models to actual wind tunnel testing.

I have not done any CFD before, I am meant to be taught the latter part of next year but this will be too late as I need to know what I will be doing now.

thanks for your help

Mike

download drop and install it. Dropbox will create its folder in C: drive with public directory as default. You can copy past your required files in public folder and past link in forum.

Thanks Far

The link is above.

I have had a couple of private messages offering "PAID SERVICES"

Look; I am a 32 year old university student, married 2 kids and a mortgage, so sorry i'm skint.

i'm looking for help, pointing in the right direction; I need to do this myself as this is my final year project and it is easy to pay someone to get the answers, knowing how to do it myself is priceless.

Thanks

Mike

I have no idea that people are sending pms for "Paid Services". As per policy of CFD-Online no one can ask for the work as freelancer, unless some one want to giveaway some projects and that should be posted in "freelance forum". As per my policy I do aviod www.cfd-online.com for any commercial intent. You can report these messages and a prompt action will taken against them.

Hi Mike,

I recently did a numerical analysis of a very similar geometry of yours. It was for my master's dissertation. I think that you should revise the available tutorials (by Far) of ICEM in order for you to understand the meshing by means of blocking strategies. It'll be helpful so you can fundamentally understand use of different type of blocks depending on the given geometry.

For the starting case 2D, you can give yourself an idea of hexa-meshing with the video tutorial by Simon (ICEM CFD Hexa 2D Airfoil meshing). The same blocking topology could be useful for your case.

If you understand the first case and the examples in the tutorials, it'll be easy for you to tackle the 3D problem.

Regards.
