two different part meshing eorror
I generated two square blocks sticking together in solidworks with conbine results unchecked.
Then, I import the geometry to icem and it shows two parts for each bock. When I mesh with Hexa-dominant, it shows E08 SurfMeshHexAF: intersecting constraints found Application is finished. Error: couldn't generate proper mesh After, I can only get the shell mesh not the volume mesh. Can anyone help me with this situation? It was meant for a more complicated geometry, but it seems the problem is due to not combining the results and the two part mesh. Thanks a lot. |

Well, I skipped the blocking process.
I just set the max size in mesh, then run compute mesh choosing hexa-dominant and click apply. And it started meshing. |
Just as a test, switch to tetra/octree and compute... Does that work?

Well, it'll generate volume mesh. But shows error when trying to read mesh in fluent,
And the goal is to use hexa-dominant. So, I guess that won't work. Thanks for replying anyway! |
You give up easily. The fact that it works for tetra tells me that you do have a closed volume. The Fluent error message can probably be over come.
Hexa dominant is not good for Fluent anyway, it is designed for use with ANSYS Mechanical. So I guess what you mean is you want a hexahedral mesh. How about hexa core or converting the octree to hexa or using ICEM CFD Hexa (blocking)... Or you could switch to ANSYS Meshing and use the cutcell meshing (assembly meshing)... |
