How to plot S pipe

Hi I need to plot S pipe as 3D geometry in Gambit with diameter 20 mm and has contraction at the middle of it (diameter after contraction is 15 mm) anybody can assist me with it please?

do you have a sketch of your geometry?

Hi max thanks for the respond I sent you approximate picture for the draw as 2D I want this plot as 3 D all dimensions and boundary conditions were shown please try to add it with meshing the pipe and send me text with the JOU file if possible?

:D
you do it, and I will help you

For upper and lower "loops" is the cross section constant? (20mm )
If yes you just need to use sweep function for generating volume.
Draw the "path" for your loop, create your surface section, and sweep.
Once it is done, you can recflect and move a copy of this volume for having the second "loop".
Place both volumes to their right place and you just need finally to create the restriction (15). Here your can use the revolve tool (2d sketch and revolve)
Once everything is ready you can unite all the volumes (or not if you need this decomposition for your mesh)

Yes both parts have 20 mm diameter thanks for the explaining and pictures I am not very expert with doing these processes in Gambit? however i will try and let you know I have lesson now will contact you later.

Hi I really failed to draw the path at your first image I draw the circle with radius 10 mm at yz plane then i tried to draw arc (with radius 10 mm too) but it not that shown in your picture may you tell me the steps of drawing it?

-mAx- October 10, 2013 08:22

I draw an arc because I wanted to do it quick.
Maybe you want somethink else than an arc...
It was just an example, anyway the procedure is the same whatever a path you choose: sweep your section along this path
The arc I designed is generated with https://www.sharcnet.ca/Software/Gam...dge_create_arc
method 3

mariam.sara October 10, 2013 08:28

I tried the third method but how much the radius of path? I select it same as circle radius (10 mm) but i think it wrong?

Dear max i post you journal file please check is it correct? if it correct please tell me how to reflect the other part?

Seems to be ok.
Gambit generates the volume?

mariam.sara October 10, 2013 09:06

Well how now i can reflect this volume to get the second part? i am really not understand too how to use revolve tool from 2D face as you mentioned? i do not have idea how to do it to draw the contraction part (i.e. with 15 mm diameter)?

Thanks a lot

-mAx- October 10, 2013 09:12

copy volume (option recflec) --> https://www.sharcnet.ca/Software/Gam..._volm_movecopy

For the contraction part you create a 2d-slice, and you revolve it around desired axis
https://www.sharcnet.ca/Software/Gam...#geom_volm_rev

mariam.sara October 10, 2013 09:31

I copy volume 1 and select reflect option with plane coordinates as below:
(0,0,0) -> (0,1,0)
it told me that the second volume created but i did not see it ?

mariam.sara October 10, 2013 09:44

Thank you i did it but still not have any idea about the last part and what you mean with slice? may you tell me this step by step? sorry to bother you with my questions?

Hi max thanks again for the photos? If the diameter is 15 mm I aware the face height is (20/2 mm) but I wondered how much the length of the face in this case?

-mAx- October 11, 2013 04:46

If you don't know the details of your geometry, then I don't know too
;)
