How to name inner domain in Gambit

hello..

I have a large domain D.. I have one shape,S ( exotic shape) in my large domain.. I had drawn another small domain,X to surround my exotic shape so that i can mesh finest mesh around this and coarser elsewhere..

In gambit i had done X subtract S, then i retain both faces.. Next I did, D subtract X...

I had meshed my small Domain X finely and the bigger coarse.. everything was fine..

problem is my boundary condition.. what do I name the inner domain?
please help..

don't give any name of internal domain.

hello
If i do not name it.. In openFoam, it is taken as default Wall..

Please advice.

You were talking about inner domain. So I understand a volume.
Then I assume you have wall between your default domain D and you refined domain X.
This is typical connectivity problem.
So you have to connect those surfaces
A picture is always welcomed

hi its in 2D..

inner shapes are wall..

If you are working in 2d then bc are set on edges. (so you have to connect your edges)
I don't see anything on your picture

when i do connec the edges i obtain the attached error..

I want wall only the buildings..
i have subtract the small square( domain) from the big domain.. and subtract the buildings from the small square domain..

upload your dbs file in a share server, I'll check

Ok as I thought: you didn't have any split.
So:
- go to face substract, and select face.2 as "face", then select all faces (except face .2 and face.1) in "substract faces"

-Now you have only 2 faces: face.2 (the one you generated with substract) and face.1, which you will use for the split

-go to face split, and selet face.2 in "face", and face.1 in "faces"

Now your domain is ready, you can mesh

hi
you mean now on doing this, i can name my edges and not bother with the inner square?
also in

go to face split, and selet face.2 in "face", and face.1 in "faces"
in my version of gambit, i have both as face.. firstone face and secondone also face.. whch one do i put as face2 and which one face1

-mAx- October 25, 2013 04:02

you just have to select the faces:
the first ("face") is the surface from which you want to generate a split.
The other ("faces") is the surface (or surfaces) you want to use for splitting

So for me
face2 is the first and face1 is the second..

Thankssss

Hi max

Hwo do i close my volume?
when i do stitch volume, i got the error of
Quote:

cannot create acis body. is this an open shell?
I have all the required face..:(

-mAx- October 28, 2013 01:02

you have to create each volume and then again the substract and split stuff (but with volume)

hi max
thanks for a reply..
When i create volumes.. Ie stitch all my face together.. i obtain the Acis error..:(
