ICEM mesh around airfoil for flow analysis in 3D

3 Attachment(s)
Hi there

I am new to ICEM meshing and I am looking for experience users to give me some guidelines or suggestions. My intention is to model the flow around airfoil (S814) in CFX but soon I see the problem when trying to mesh around the sharp trailing edge http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...-edge-cfx.html. So I decided to use ICEM to overcome this problem.

First, I split the 3D flow domain into 9 blocks as shown in figure 1 and I created an O-block in the middle where it is around the airfoil before I associated edges to the airfoil curves (figure 2). Then I have no idea how to proceed further
I know the edges of the block 33 (figure3) need to fit with the airfoil curve and then removed before starting to mesh (maybe i am wrong with this idea ) but I don't really know how:(

Appreciated if anyone can give me any hints or advice.

Thanks
Tom

If your airfoil has a sharp trailing edge you can try to collapse the trailing edge vertices, first in your O-grid and them the rest of the blocks.

Just a guess.

Good luck !
