Meshing External Flow Tanker

2 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I am having trouble selecting the right mesh for what I am doing:

External Flow Aerodynamic Air over Vehicle Tanker

It is a complex component which I have tried to simplify.

I am planning on running a turbulent model (likely SST), however am not sure what mesh properties to use to generate a flow of decent accuracy.

Usually I will insert an inflation around the whole body and select a face sizing. But I get the following warning:

"Pre-inflation Pre-inflation layer generation are ignored for the following faces"

And so when I generate the mesh, the inflation layers are not present.

Is adding inflation layer and face sizing sufficient properties for mesh generation?

]Is this to do with the CAD geometry discrepancies? What is the best way to solve this?

Hope someone can help.

Ive attached picture of the CAD model, and an inflation preview with green highlight of one "problematic geometry" face.

Thanks in advance!

Hello rzhang,

Since you are going to do external flow aerodynamic, you suppose to have a domain around your geometry, did you do this or not? because it is not shown in your attached pictures.

Hello mezah,

Yes, I have a fluid domain volume in which i used Boolean operation subtract function in CFD designmodeler to create the an empty cavity representing the tanker geometry.

What is the cause of the "Pre-inflation layer generation are ignored for the following faces" warning?
