Hi All,
I have been trying to improve my mesh for some time, without success.
It is a large 3D mesh, the model is imported from a CATIA model igs conversion into ICEM_CFD.
The ICEM package has limited licence, so the process employed is
1: Import model save as .tin
2: Carry out geometry repair procedure
3: Tetra mesh Robust (Octree) Mesh Method (smooth, check mesh)
4: Prism mesh (12 layers, check mesh)
5: Convert 12 tet to 1 hexa (smooth, check mesh)
6: Output mesh to Fluent V6.
The mesh is produced successfully by this method, and will import into Fluent. Whilst carrying out the mesh check there are no errors, but the mesh quality reports mesh orthogonally is less than 0.1.

This is a large model with a mesh volume of 8.5 to 10 million cells.

I can't include images, or files for information purposes as they exceed the size limit for the forum.
Advice related to improving the mesh quality would be much appreciated.
I have zipped files of the model and mesh, but they are to large to lodge here.

Many Thanks

Eddy

Eddy,

One doubt in S.no 5 ie Convert 12 tet to 1 hexa (smooth, check mesh)

Why did u convert tet mesh into hex????

0.1 is good enough. I think you are trying hexcore mesh, right?

As the model is "LARGE" if I leave the volume as a tet mesh then I have over 21 miillion cells, this then would cause issues when trying to produce an output to Fluent
