Dear friends,

I have a geometry, for that geometry i need to create a working domain for simulation. It is an external flow study. Am confused with the creation of working domain that is What should be the volume of my working domain where the fluid will flow.
Suppose if am studying flow through a circular rod then what must be the dimension of domain volume. Here i need rectangular domain rather cylindrical domain. Is there any criterion like 2 or 3 times chord length or mean length. pls help me out guys. regarding length, Breadth & Width taking criteria.

Dear colleguae I have read about 10 times the diameter and 50 times the length in terms of the diameter.... hope this help you!

Thank you for your valuable reply What must be the relationship criterion between inlet, Far filed & Outlet. i.e, 3times the chord length at the inlet, 5times the chord length near far-field and finally 10times near outlet. It doesn't matter for the creation of domain know. It depends on me only knw that what i exactly needed for my output. So as per requirement it varies knw? Pls make me correct if am wrong!

Dear colleague, Indead I have not read about your idea specifically. I locate the solid in the middle of the domain, considering the above criterias!!
