Am planning to run a sample 2D Rotating machinery problem using FLUENT. Hence i meshed the required surfaces and created named selections for interface definitions between rotor and stator. I get the following message,

"The mesh file exporter does not support overlapping geometry in named selections. Please resolve the issue and try again. You can use the option “Show Geometry in Overlapping Named Selections” (when you right click on the Mesh branch of the tree) to help diagnose the problem"

I observed this error message even when i try to export any geometry to CFX. I understand that the walls would overlap. But how is it possible to avoid such overlapping ? Interface definitely need two sides. Please find attached the mesh image for your reference.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Since its a 2D case, the edges are chosen for named selection.

Also, i've observed that i couldn't get the option, " Show overlapped named selections......" when i right click the Mesh under the model tree. Am using ANSYS FLUENT 14.0

Am sorry about the query in 2D. Overlapping makes sense as it has just the line element. Is that correct ? However, i experience similar overlapping issues in 3D as well. What would be the reason ? Could any one share their views or opinion ?

The error must be in the definition of the named sections in the geometry.
Maybe you have defined the same wall twice or an inlet or outlet as a wall too.

Hope it helps
