[Ansys meshing] Multibody part mesh

Hi everyone,

I really need help with a problem that is probably very easily solved but I cannot get it!

Would really appreciate any help,

David

[2]Hello everyone,

I am having some difficulty meshing two bodies as one part.

I started with a solid material block and needed to create a body within this but also want the block to still act like on part. So I did the following:

1. Drew a sketch on the block

2. Used the slice material option

3. Selected both bodies and clicked form new part

But now when I mesh the new part, the meshing is different for each body. How do I combine the meshing? i.e I want uniform meshing?

I think I've tried everything; shared topography, frozen etc. but maybe I did it wrong?

Please any ideas would be much appreciated, I'm sure its something simple I'm missing.

Thanks for any help,
David

Just to clarify, the reason I would like them meshed together is that even when I refine the meshing of each body, there is not smooth transitions on the stresses.

For example, the following body should have symmetrical stress throughout it; but obviously this is not the case in the image and it is clear where the different "body" is. I would like to merge them as one part with one mesh; but still be able to select that body as I need to perform operations on it later.

Hope that makes sense!

David
