Different Orthogonal Quality in ICEM and FLUENT
Can someone help me understanding the following. I meshed a wing in ICEM CFD with great attention to the orthogonal quality. ICEM said that the quality > 0.3, which is good. When the mesh was loaded in FLUENT it says: quality > 3.44e-04 after which the simulation diverges?
Why is there a difference between the two? Quality in Fluent http://i.imgur.com/5GFE79U.png Quality in ICEM CFD http://i.imgur.com/64BQvBd.jpg |
Yes. Take a look here:
http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...problem-2.html It's calculated differently in your version. This is fixed in version 15. It's not fixed, that ICEM hexa grids become arbitrarily bad (orthogonal quality) if you refine the wall cells more and more. |
Thanks for the reply!

Hi Thibalt can you please forward that vedio of structured mesh created on that wing....
i hope u will reply as soon as possible... mahantesh..:) |
What exactly do you mean with vedio? If you meant video, I did not really use a video doing particulary that wing. It has been a while, but I found some videos that can help you doing such cases.
