Meshing a Wake

Hi,
I'm trying to model heat transfer from a heat sink using Fluent. I have a small part representing a heat source attached to a heat sink. Each is a separate part. I want to apply heat generation to the heat source and then model flow over the assembly. I'd like to generate a mesh with a refined region in the wake of the heat sink. I have been trying to do this using the body of influence method to control the element size around the heat sink. However, when I create a body around the sink and within the fluid domain, it creates a hole in my fluid domain and I can't seem to get a mesh in the wake. I have been creating all bodies as frozen bodies thus far and then forming a part from the bodies. This does not seem to be working though. Am I making a mistake when creating the geometry? How should I go about meshing the wake? |

Switch off a Shared Topology Method in DM. It's in a Body or Part Details.

Blazej,
I got the meshing to work, but I can't get a conformal mesh between my fluid and solid bodies. I need this because I want to simulate the heat transfer between the bodies. I changed the shared topology method in the details of my part to none. |

Set Shared Topology Method to Automatic for your Part, switch it to None only for a body which will be your Body of Influence.
