blocking and material points for 3 different fluids in annular region

Assalam o Alaikum

Sir i have 2 annular spaces and 1 circular region.
Now in each region there is a different fluid.

Now my questions are.

1) whether i have to block each region separately or i have to create only one block.

2) how i can specify the 3 material points in the annular regions? sir i have specified the 3 material point as shown in fig but when i export this mesh to fluent then only one region appears that is the annulus space between the outer most circle and inner most circle. (i created the mesh using premesh and then converted it to unstruct) whether i have to choose the compute mesh option?

3) Sir am i correctly blocked the regions?

4) when we use the option compute mesh (Robust octree) and when we use the option create unstruct mesh (premesh). any thumb rule?

Sir i am stucked...

That is the case with the blocking or hexa mesh (unstructured hexa in fact). Assign blocking (blocks) inside each material point to different part e.g. hot fluid, helium and air.
If you are considering heat transfer through solid, then include two material points for solids between heluim and hot fluid, and helium and air.

First we always create single block and split it a way so that it fits to underlying goemetry very well.
It answers your question # 3 as well...

:o:(:confused::rolleyes::mad:

We use octree for the tetra mesh generation and blocking > premesh > (right click) unstructured mesh for creating unstructured hexa mesh... :p

Both are different methods altogether. Dont mix them and use any one method unless you are tyring to make hybrid mesh

Octree = traiangluar mesh (other methods are denaulay, AF and Tgrid)
Blocking = Hexa mesh (unstructed or structred depending on your solver. Most commercial solvers e.g. Flent uses the unstructured meshes...)

thats great. Please let us know if you need further assistance in ICEM or Fluent.

For fluent query post question in fluent forum and let me about the link and i will try to help you out...

Dear all,

I have a quick question for you, I have a geometry and only a small region is porous. I do not know how I can define this so when I import it to Fluent I can choose the small part as Porous and the rest just non-porous! Basically how can I have different zones? I do not understand the material point technique, how does Fluent/ICEM understand the exact boundaries of my Porous region? I am trying to use all tetra mesh elements. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
