Different refinement zones on same part?
1 Attachment(s)
I need to know how to create different refinement zones on a single part. Not that they simply need to transition from coarse to fine, but that the cells need to abruptly change size as if I was using a mesh interface. I tried to show what I mean in the attachment, in which some of the finer grid lines in the bottom piece simply dead-end into the upper less fine piece, but are still the same overall part. I know this is possible in ICEM but I cannot seem to figure out how to do it in ANSYS Meshing. Thanks a lot.

Come on guys I really need some help here :(

Hey Jacob
I think if you want to create a grid exactly like the pic, you must split the domain to 2 separate domains! with coarse and fine meshes! and if you want to have 1 domain with a grid exactly like your pic, it's impossible! in 1 domain, you can only create a coarse grid at top that turn to fine mesh at bottom with using "bias factor"! |
Alright thanks, I already know about bias factor but it doesn't perform very well in my specific situation. How can I split the part up into multiple domains? Can I do it within the meshing window, or do I need to go back to geometry and carve out multiple areas?

You cann't seperate its in Ansys meshing! You will need back to design modeler!
