3D duct meshing problem

2 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I am new to ICEM , so excuse my ignorance.

For my dissertation, Im trying to replicate this domain and mesh (attached). Its basically a duct and the inlet is in the middle. Finer mesh must be around the inlet.

I have tried every YouTube video/tutorial out there but I failed every time. My problem is that when I open my mesh in Fluent, non of the boundary conditions I set are there (inlet/outlet/walls).

I must be doing something wrong with creating the surfaces and associating stuff together. If you could please try to create this mesh and tell me how to do it I would be very pleased :)

If you have just a slight idea how to do it please tell me.
Sorry for my bad English.

THANKS!

PS: I already tried to follow this tutorial and apply it for my own project but for some reason that didnt work. http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~engsjo/...duct-v1p01.pdf

Hi,

Your blocking seems correct. Have you defined all the surfaces you need in your geometry? If so it is very likely an association problem.

In the tutorial you mentioned the association process is made with an automatic function which is super time-saving if it works properly but very often it doesn't. If you did the same maybe something went missing.

I suggest you to do it manually (edge by edge).

Just to be sure, I have to use edge to surface right?

I choose 4 edges and it should associate it to the surface?

The association is made between edges of the blocks and curves of the surfaces.

Once that all the curves of one surface (geometry) have been associated with the edges of one face (blocking) the association between surface and face is implicit
