structred and unstructured mesh
1 Attachment(s)
Hello dear friends @ cfd-online.com
I have a STL file from a human body and I want to modeling ventilation in a room with presence of human. I need to do a mesh like the picture I attached with ICEM. how could get mesh partly unstructured and the rest structured? I managed to import STL file to icem and mesh the whole domain unstructured easily. the question is how can I have a mesh like the picture below? https://cafesahel.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/mesh.jpg https://cafesahel.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/mesh.jpg |
I can't see the picture ...

I've updated the post here is the link to the picture https://cafesahel.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/mesh.jpg

I'm sorry , I can't access blogs in my work, use the forum tools to attach the picture.

diamondx I've attached the file. in first post

That is an hybrid mesh. a combinaison of structured+unstructred. You will a box. you create your body inside that box. generate your unstructured mesh. save it. Then block the outside. generate unstructured and save it. load the two meshes (click merge, not replace), and then merge the too meshes. this is just a summary of how you do that. Look for hybrid meshes in the forum, or use ansys's documentation in icem.

after creating the mesh inside the box how could i have structured mesh in outer domain?
Thank you for your reply i look for it. and if i encounter a problem i will contact you. |
You're a beginner,so I suggest do that in different project. save the .uns files. and load them in a third project file. use file->open mesh. Please do the tutorials...

the structured and unstructured mesh have to share one surface. Call it interface. When you load the two meshes, select that part name interface.

Thank you for you reply.
1- I created my domain and first i make box around human. 2-Mesh it with unstructured options in ICEM . 3-Then I save the mesh and then close this mesh. 4-I use blocking option and split the the main block around domain with node of interface box. 4-Then I delete the block contain interface box. 5-Convert mesh to unstructured from premesh->convert to unstructured. 6-Open the interface mesh and click "merge". 7-from edit mesh i choose merge nodes->merge meshes->merge volume meshes->merge surface mesh parts. 8- I save the project and from output menu export the mesh . AT the end i've got this warning: WARNING: Mesh has uncovered faces. ANSYS Fluent needs a complete boundary (shells in 3D) or it will give a variety of errors and not read in the mesh! and fluent could not open the mesh. am I missing something here? |
