Hi everybody!
I try to get structured mesh in a cyclone which profile is a complex curve.
The attached picture 1 shows a structured mesh where there was only one criteria - 10 inflation layers with total thickness = 1 mm (for instance, the largest diameter is 133 mm). This mesh was generated using only sizing+bias.
The problem now is how to attach to this model just a simple cylindrical tube (see attachment 2) with mapped face meshing and the same inflation layers?
I can not get mapped mesh at the face where cylindrical tube contacts with complex curve face because I can not sweep the tube to get mapped mesh. I suppose that I should divide the tube into some elements to get mapped mesh but I do not know how to slice it properly. Probably, I should slice both parts as a single part...
Anybody can help me? Thanks for Your attention!

Hi,

You have to slice the cylindrical tube in 4 parts and then do "mapped face meshing"

This link will give you some idea how to slice it and do meshing

http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...tml#post373154

Try to get element sizing of both parts similar.

Hope it helps

Cheers

Thank You for quick reply!

I'll try to detail my question.

If the cylindrical tube and a cyclone are in the one part, Ansys mesher shows unmappable face (see attached picture 1).

If explode part I get unmapped face mesh (see attached picture 2).

The main problem is that the cylindrical tube is tangential to the edge and I'll get close to 0 angles there.

If I make smaller mesh in the cylindrical tube there still will be unmapped face like in picture 1.

My question is: how to slice the whole volume to get all the faces mapped?

Or how should I change geometry to avoid unmapped face?
