sorselina is on a distinguished road
Hi guys, I am very new to the world of CFD and I have some trouble with understanding about blocking and meshing.

I have done a fair bit of the tutorial, but the examples given in the tutorial about blocking/meshing (although helpful for my basic understanding), do not help me in achieving a quality mesh for my geometry since my geometry is more complex compared to the one in the tutorials.

My geometry is an impeller, which is enclosed by a cylinder. I want to mesh the volume between the impeller and the cylinder (the area where the fluid flows), and I was suggested to use the blocking method to get a nice premesh. The impeller without the enclosing cylinder (impeller.png) and the enclosed impeller (impellerdonut.png) can be seen on the attachment.

So far, what I have tried is blocking the entire area where the fluid will flow and deleting the blocks that are the impeller, as can be seen on blocked.jgp. Am I on the right way? Please guide me so that I can understand this better

The big blocks at the outer radius in blocked.jpg seem to be very distorted. A corner seems to be much bigger than 135 degree... but this appearance could be due to the low resolution of the screen shot. I think it could be a good idea to share your icem files.
