Solid and Liquid modelling and Meshing Issue
Hello I am having an issue with solid and liquid meshing - for conduction and fluid dynamics around it.
I have a: 1. A cylindrical vessel 2. A rectangular rod dipped into the fluid inside the cylinder. I created a circular extrude with "add frozen". Then a rectangular extrude with "add frozen" But in the mesher, the mesh of the cylinder goes "through" the rectangle. ie. there's no clear boundary or wall in between. Am I doing something really stupid here? Thanks. |
In ICEM you create bodies to define two different domains. In Ansys Meshing you create boolean. Do a bit more research into it. Attach some pics.

From your explanation what i think it is that it has two bodies two parts, there should be an option, go into your geometry and select the two bodies and right click to form one part from them. But this way there is going to be one 'continuous' mesh for the two bodies i think. Is that what you wanted?
If you wanted to mesh them separately then I think it is just the way you made your geometry, the two bodies are overlapping each other... And reading your post again, if the rod is dipped inside the Fluid you will have to use a Boolean operation to take the rods volume out of the Fluid so now the rods outer surface will act like a wall and will not be meshed since the space is hollow inside. You can then apply boundary conditions to that wall. |
Hwet, I figured out I was missing a simple step.
Either Boolean subtract or form new part would have solved my issue. I had the misconception that if I add frozen and uncheck "merge topology" it would create independent parts. |
