hello all

i need to investigate pressure drop in a filtration(porous) media for solid/liquid/gas separation. but before analyzing this study i should make the geometry and mesh of the porous media in gambit. can any body help me about this field in gambit.

thanks.

-mAx- will become famous soon enough
2 choices:
*you build and mesh your porous media (you have geometric model)
*you assign a simple region as separated fluid domain, and set it up as porous media

Dear Maxime

thank you for your help, but I don't know how I can do it?!

for example I define a cylindrical geometry in gambit and want to define porous zone in its sidewall (not its top and down wall) for separating solid particles larger than for example 100 micron.

can you please help me how can I define it in gambit or ansys fluent (in fact I don't know how defining porous media)

thank you.

Once your geometry is done, you can select your faces or volumes and specify what kind of continuum it will be
It is just a way for treating this domain separately later in the solver (so you will have to specify you porous parameters in fluent and not in gambit)
